The Henderson State women's basketball team will take on nationally ranked Emporia State in Emporia, Kan. on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup.
Henderson State looks to rebound against the 7th-ranked Lady Hornets after falling 67-46 on Saturday afternoon to Great American Conference opponent East Central.
The Reddies (1-3, 0-2 GAC) have out-rebounded their opponent in the last three contests, but turned the ball over 22 times to ECU, while forcing only nine turnovers.
Aungelique Sledge leads the Reddies averaging 14.8 points per game and is shooting 30 percent from the field on the season, while also averaging 4.5 rebounds per game.
Newcomer
Haleigh Henson is second on the team in points per game, averaging 12.5. Henson has dialed in from long-range 10 times this season, averaging 2.5 made three-pointers per game.
On the inside, freshmen
Makyndra Simmons and
Deidra McCoy lead the rebounding category for HSU.
Simmons averages 8.3 points and 6 rebounds over four games, while McCoy ranks sixth in the GAC in rebounds per game, averaging 9.3 to go along with 6.8 points per game.
Emporia State (3-0) is led in scoring by Merissa Quick, who averages 14.7 points per game.
Kelly Moten and Amber Vandiver average 11.3 and 11.0 points per game, respectively, to add to the balanced scoring attack for ESU.
Quick also averages 7.7 rebounds per game, while Vandiver averages 7.0.
Freshman Jacee Kramer had 17 points to lead four Lady Hornets in double figures as ESU dominated in a 91-40 win over Southwestern on Saturday night.
The Hornets are coached by Jory Collins, who is in his 5th season at Emporia.
Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at White Auditorium.
