Since playing it first game on Nov. 28, 1895, the Reddies have compiled 24 championships including four in the last five years.

Henderson will be attempting to win its 500th game in program history while avenging its only conference loss last year as ECU beat the Reddies 35-28 at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.

The Reddies will also attempt to extend the nation's longest road winning streak in the as Henderson has won 22 consecutive games away from Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.

Henderson's last road loss came on Oct. 29, 2011 to NCAA Division I opponent South Alabama. The Jaguars beat the Reddies 28-3 in Mobile, Ala.

The Reddies are a perfect 23-0 in GAC road contests since the inception of the league in 2011. Henderson has also won 24 consecutive Division II road games.

Henderson opened the season with a 13-11 win against Southeastern Oklahoma last weekend to improve its all-time GAC record to 41-4. The victory was the fourth consecutive year that the Reddies have opened the season with a win.

The Reddies totaled 407 yards of offense against the storm with 2015 GAC Offensive Player of the Year Jaquan Cole rushing for 90 yards. Last year against the Tigers, Cole totaled 72 yards on 13 attempts but did not get into the end zone.

Andrew Black made his first start as the Reddie signal caller. The sophomore from Tyler, Texas completed 20-of-34 passes for 237 yards while also gaining 23 yards on the ground. Black totaled 209 yards passing on 25-of-49 attempts in a back-up role a year ago.

Black had several targets to throw to last week with eight different receivers having receptions led by newcomers Austin Bennett and Courtney Whitehead, both having five catches each.

Bennett, a junior transfer from the University of Oklahoma totaled 58 yards. Whitehead, who transferred from Central Arkansas for his final season of eligibility had 39 yards.

But the big catch came from Ben Johnson who had a 51-yard reception to set up the game-winning touchdown. The sophomore from Sapupla, Okla. finished with a pair of catches for 68 yards.

After allowing 158 yards of offense to SOSU in the first-half, the Reddies defense limited the Storm to just 111 yards and three first downs in the final 30 minutes.

Cameron Sonnier anchored the defensive unit having 12 tackles including 10 solo stops. The sophomore from Webster, Texas totaled 18 total tackles a year ago.

Dondre Wright compiled eight stops including one sack, while 2015 GAC First-Team defensive back Gary Vines had six tackles including one for lost yardage.

First-team All-GAC place kicker Houston Ray picked up where he led off and has added to his career totals with a pair of field goals (31, 32 yards). Ray has 35 career field goals, second in HSU history.

East Central enters Saturday's contest with a 0-1 record after losing to Ouachita Baptist 42-28.

The Tigers are picked to finish seventh in the annual GAC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coached. ECU returns 61 players, including four offensive and three defensive starters.

The list of starters includes senior David Moore, who already holds the records for receiving touchdowns in a single season and career and was the first ECU player to record over 1,000 reception yards in a single season. Last week against OBU, Moore totaled 154 yards on eight receptions while scoring three touchdowns.

Moore set several records in 2015 and earning several post-season honors. Moore has already started to receive honors for the 2016 season, as he was named to Football Gameplan's 2016 Preseason DII All-America Third Team Offense list. The 2015 All-GAC First Team and all-America selection is one of six players to earn a spot on the three teams.

After losing 2015 starting quarterback Rocky Moore to graduation, the biggest question facing the offense for 2016 is who will fill the role.

This year Jackson Lamb has received the nod as ECU's signal caller. Against OBU, Lamb completed 27-of-39 passes for 321 yards while having three touchdown strikes.

One of the areas that the Tigers will have great depth and experience is on the defensive side of the ball.
The Tigers will be bolstered by the return of Vernon Johnson and Lexus Jackson.

Johnson will come back to the field after a very promising start in 2015 before an injury sidelined him. Jackson took up the slack and earned All-GAC honors as a defensive back.

East Central and Henderson State meet for the 28th time in a series which dates back to 1928, with the Reddies leading the series 15-11-1. The Reddies have won nine of the last 11 meetings.

Last year, ECU snapped a 9-game losing streak by beating the Reddies 35-28. It was the Tigers' first win against HSU since 1985.
Henderson has a 3-8-1 record against ECU in games played in Ada, Okla.

In 1975 the two teams met in the Bicentennial Bowl which matched the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Champion (ECU) against the Arkansas Intercollegiate Champion (HSU).

The Reddies came away with a 27-14 win in a game played in Little Rock's War Memorial Stadium.
