Andy Clawson came to Henderson State in 1965 and while working on his degree he served as an athletic trainer for the Reddie football and basketball teams. A native of El Dorado, Ark., Clawson received his BSE degree from Henderson State in 1969 and earned his master’s degree, also from Henderson State, in 1970. He was recognized by Henderson in 2002 with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. After leaving HSU in 1970, Clawson spent three years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Clemson and became The Citadel’s Head Athletic Trainer in 1973. Clawson has been active in many professional organizations, especially the NATA, where he twice served as vice president, served on two occasions as a member of its Board of Directors. Since 1990, he has served on NATA’s Board of Certification.
