Henderson State University Athletics

Groce enrolled at Henderson State Teachers College in 1948.  As a freshman, he started in two football games, was a starter for the basketball team, and ran 100, 220, 440, and 880 relay in track.  He earned All-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference honors for gridiron play his junior year and was named co-captain in 1951 during his senior year of football, when he also received second-team All-AIC honors.
