Adkisson participated in football from 1976 to 1978.. He was All-AIC in 1976 and 1977, NAIA All-American in 1976 and 1977, AIC’s all-time leading scorer with 239 points, and AIC’s all-time leader in field goals (41) and extra points (119). He signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1978.
