Don Campbell

Don Campbell spent 39 years in the coaching profession and is one of the most successful and highly respected football coaches in the State of Arkansas. A 1968 graduate of Henderson State, Campbell jumped right into the coaching profession beginning his career at Luxora Junior High and then moving to Corning Junior High School. Campbell took over as the head coach at Corning High School in 1976 leading the team to a district championship and a State Playoff appearance ending that season with a 10-2 record. Campbell spent 10 years at Corning compiling an 80-28-2 record, winning seven district titles. Campbell went on to coach at Sheridan High School from 1986 to 1990 before taking over at Wynne High School in 1991. Nicknamed “The General”, Campbell coached for 16 years at Wynne compiling a 147-46-3 record while winning eight district titles, appearing in state playoffs all 16 years and winning state championships in 2001 and 2004. Campbell retired after the 2006 season with a 257-98-6 record. He was inducted into Arkansas High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2008.
