Mike Peterson played basketball at Henderson from 1968 to 1972. Henderson State’s all-time leading rebounder with 1130 career boards, Peterson ranks 4th all-time in scoring with 1896 points. A two-time All-AIC selection, Peterson helped lead the Reddies to the 1969 AIC title, a NAIA District 17 championship and an appearance in the NAIA Regional finals.
As a freshman, Peterson led the Reddies in both scoring and rebounding averaging 15.3 points and 8.5 boards per game to earn All-AIC honors. His best scoring year was as a junior when he averaged 17.1 points per game. In his final season with the Reddies, Peterson totaled 474 points for a 15.3 average and grabbed a career-high 307 rebounds for a 9.9 average.
