Henderson State University Athletics

Stewart was a four-year letterman with the rifle team from 1969-73. He led Henderson to three consecutive AIC titles and was the two-time 5th Army ROTC champion. Stewart was a member of the U.S. Army shooting team from 1978-86. He won 23 national championships, 30 interservice championships, and 13 international medals. He was a member of the 1980 and 1984 United States Olympic Teams, a member of the 1983 Pan American Team, in which he won gold and silver medals, and was inducted into the U.S. Army Shooting Hall of Fame in 1983. He was selected as one of the Olympic torch bearers for the torch run through Arkansas in 1996.
