ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — The Henderson State Athletics Department secured its 13th consecutive academic term with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher this week when the Reddies' 450-plus student-athletes recorded a 3.2 GPA for the spring 2023 semester.
In total, 13 of the Reddies' 14 intercollegiate athletic programs carried team GPAs of 3.0 or better. The cumulative mark of 3.2 is the second-best GPA for the department in school history.
"I'm incredibly proud of our student-athletes, coaches and staff that we have once again reached our departmental goal of a 3.0 GPA this semester," Director of Athletics Shawn Jones said. "13-consecutive semesters with that level of academic success is something to be celebrated. It takes a great deal of effort and commitment from our student-athletes to maintain that figure and I want to commend them on the hard work they have put into the classroom this spring. As always, I'm especially appreciative of our coaches, academic advisors, professors and staff here at Henderson State who give them the support they need to be successful."
The Reddies have posted a departmental GPA of 3.0 or better in every academic term since the spring of 2017. The women's golf and cross country programs tied for the highest spring GPA with 3.76s, respectively. Men's golf's 3.33 GPA was the best mark among all the men's programs at HSU.
This spring, 65 Henderson State student-athletes were named to the Dean's List while another 84 earned Honors List accolades.
