Henderson Volleyball Falls to Harding

The Henderson State volleyball team took to the road on Tuesday night with a tough test awaiting them in the form of Harding University. The Lady Bisons (17-5, 8-1 GAC) proved to be one of the top teams in the newly-formed Great American Conference as they handed the Lady Reddies (4-17, 0-9 GAC) a 3-0 sweep (25-12, 25-16, 25-23).

With as many attack errors as kills in the first set the Lady Reddies were unable to keep pace with the Lady Bisons and lost the opening set 25-12. The number of attack errors in the second set for both teams went up, but the Lady Bisons were still too much as they took that set 25-16, and went up 2-0 in the match.

The third set would be the closest of the three. In that set Harding committed 11 attack errors, a match-high in errors for either team, and the Lady Reddies would benefit from the errors keeping things close to the end as a result. Down Ahead in the set, 20-15, the Lady Bisons committed three of the 11 errors pulling the Lady Reddies to within two points. A kill from Candance Redwine in the mix closed the gap to a single point, 20-19. HSU would tie the third set at 23-all after a service ace by rookie Sarah Williams. The Lady Bisons would force a side-out on the following serve and sealed the set and match victory on the ensuing service.

Six different Lady Reddies collected a kill with sophomore Ty Lindberg leading the way with eight kills. Defensively, junior libero Lauren Ray recorded a match-high 15 digs and rookie middle blocker Jessica Moss was a force at the net as she solely denied four attacks and assisted on two others. It was the second straight match that she has totaled four block solos.

The Lady Reddies will play again on Thursday, October 13th as they will host Arkansas Tech. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
