Sports Medicine


The Sports Medicine Staff at Henderson State University is comprised of four Certified Athletic Trainers as well as athletic training students who are enrolled in the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited Athletic Training Education Program. Henderson's Sports Medicine Staff is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical services with the ultimate goal of preventing athletic injuries and illnesses to each student-athlete. Other medical services provided by our staff include, but are not limited to, evaluation of injuries and illnesses, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning programs, pre-participation exams, nutritional counseling, psychological counseling, drug education, and further referral processing.

Henderson State University's Sports Medicine Staff abides by the Great American Conference (GAC) Athletic Training Operating Manual's policies and procedures (Section 2.0).  

Emergency Action Plans (PDF Link)
In the event that an emergency occurs during athletic practice or competition, the following Emergency Action Plans have been established for each venue to create a controlled environment and well trained chain of command.

The staff at Henderson State University abide by the Lightning Policy (Section 3.0) provided by the Great American Conference (GAC) in the Athletic Training Operating Manual.  

Visiting Team Information (PDF Link)
The primary Sports Medicine
Room is located at the west entrance of the Formby Athletic Center. Visiting teams who are accompanied by their Athletic Trainer may utilize the facility as needed. If your team is traveling without an Athletic Trainer, we ask that you contact our Athletic Training Staff and provide a treatment notification form along with perishable supplies for your team's use.
