Lady Reddies End Season against Southern Arkansas

The Henderson State volleyball team wrapped up their 2011 season at home against Southern Arkansas on Thursday night, but the Lady Reddies (4-28, 0-16 GAC) were unable to come away with a win in the finale as the Lady Riders (16-15, 7-9 GAC) took the match, 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16).

The first set saw the Lady Riders jump out to an early 13-4 advantage. A Lady Rider service error sparked an 8-1 run by the Lady Reddies that pulled them to within two points, 14-12. The Lady Reddies would tie the set three times after that run. The final tied score of the first set came at 23-all, but consecutive Lady Reddie errors gave the set win to Southern Arkansas.

The momentum from the opening set victory carried over for the Lady Riders as they lead wire-to-wire in the second set en route to a 25-19 win and a commanding two games to none lead in the match.

With the support of the crowd behind them on Fan Appreciation night, the Lady Reddies rallied in the third set, leading a majority of that set on their way to a 25-20 victory.

The fourth set was similar to the second set with the Lady Riders earning the set victory after leading wire-to-wire. With the 25-16 win in that fourth set, the Lady Riders picked up the match win 3-1.

Statistically, Ty Lindberg and Sarah Williams paced the Lady Reddie attack as both recorded 12 kills each. The Lady Riders committed 24 total attacking errors in the match and 11 of those errors came in the form of blocks thanks to a very active Lady Reddie net defense. Jessica Moss and Candance Redwine were the most active at the net as each recorded a block solo, and the two contributed to the other nine blocks as Moss had five assisted blocks and Redwine finished with four assisted blocks. 10 different Lady Reddies recorded a defensive dig in the match with Lauren Ray leading the way with 15 digs, followed behind by Sara Gonzales with 12 digs.
