Dee Johnson scored 18 points to lead Henderson State to a 58-51 win over Northeastern Oklahoma, Saturday at the UAFS Classic in Fort Smith, Ark.

The Reddies, 3-2 on the season, hit seven straight free throws down the stretch to hold off a Northeastern rally, while finishing the game 16-of-22 from the charity stripe.

Henderson trailed most of the first-half as Northeastern built a 9-point lead with 7:58 remaining in the half.

However, the Reddies began chipping away at the deficit as Dee Johnson and Lester Johnson both hit back-to-back treys to make the score 25-24 at the break.

Henderson took its first lead of the second half at the 13:38 mark as Andrew Ensley got a breakaway layup to put the Reddies on top 36-35.

Trailing 37-36 with 12:33 left to play, Henderson went on a 12-2 run sparked by a jumper by Denzel Lyles and another 3-pointer by Dee Johnson.

Northeastern, 1-8 on the year, came within three on a 3-pointer by Justin Johnson to make the score 52-49 with 1:03 remaining.

The Reddies then proceeded to make seven straight free throws to secure the win.

Joe McCoy ended the night with 12 points for the Reddies, while Ensley added 11 points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds.

The Reddies ended the game shooting 40 percent from the field converting on 19-of-47 shots, while Northeastern was successful on 19-of-54 attempts for 35 percent.
