Lady Reddies Fall to Texas A&M-Commerce


With four matches under their belt in the 2011 season, the Henderson State volleyball team took to the road on Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup against Texas A&M-Commerce, but the Lady Reddies (0-5, 0-0 GAC) left Commerce, Texas with a straight sets loss, 3-0 (12-25, 20-25, 13-25).

Playing in their first match of the year, the Lions of A&M-Commerce jumped out to an early advantage in the match as they took the opening set 25-12 on the strength of 13 kills and a team hitting percentage of .250 propelling them to the three-set sweep.

As a team, the Lady Reddies recorded 44 digs with junior Libero Lauren Ray leading the way with 14 digs of her own. UALR transfer Ty Lindberg finished the match with 10 digs.

Five different Lady Reddies recorded a kill in the match with the leading hitters being Lindberg and Candance Redwine who finished with five and four kills respectfully. Freshmen Sarah Williams totaled three kills of her own.

The Lady Reddies will remain on the road through this weekend as they travel to Huntsville, Ala. to take part in the Country Inn & Suites Tournament hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville. The first match that the Lady Reddies will play in will be against the host school on Thursday, September 6th starting at 5 p.m.
