Henderson Falls to Southern Arkansas in Four Sets

Ray Recorded a Double-Double wth 34 assists and 11 digs
MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Looking to avenge a home loss to Southern Arkansas earlier this season, the Henderson State women's volleyball team took to the road on Thursday night for the rematch and played one of the top teams in Great American Conference closely. Despite the strong effort, Henderson ultimately lost in four sets by scores of 25-27, 11-25, 25-22, and 22-25.

Southern Arkansas would take the first two sets to establish control of the match. In the first set, however, the Lady Reddies (5-21, 1-10 GAC) benefited from 12 attack errors from the Lady Muleriders (18-8, 9-2 GAC) as the set remained close and surpassed the 25-point mark with SAU winning it by a score of 27-25. The second set would be a much different story as the Lady Muleriders would not commit an error on 27 attacks and handily won the set, 25-11.

Showing resolve, the Lady Reddies staved off a three-set sweep with a 25-22 win in the third set. In that set, the Lady Reddies' attack got on track as they hammered home 14 kills.

Trying to extend the match to a decisive fifth set, the Lady Reddies bettered their kill-output from the third set by registering 15 kills in the fourth set, but a 17-kill set by the Lady Muleriders was the difference as SAU won by a score of 25-22.

Ty Lindberg and Lauren Ray would turn in the best statistical matches as each collected double-doubles. Lindberg's came on the strength of a team-high 16 kills and 19 digs. Ray's came in the form of 34 assists and 11 digs.

The Lady Reddies will return home for a three-match stand starting on Tuesday, October 30th. HSU will play host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff that night starting at 7:00 pm.
