Lady Reddies Fall on the Road to Cotton Blossoms

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Looking for their first conference win of the season, the Henderson State volleyball team took to the road on Tuesday night to take on the University of Arkansas at Monticello at Steelman Fieldhouse. After three closely contested sets, HSU was not able to notch that first conference win as UAM collected a three-set sweep by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 29-27.

The Lady Reddies (3-10, 0-4 GAC) entered the match as the Great American Conference's top team in blocks per set with 2.36/set, and against the Cotton Blossoms (4-10, 1-3 GAC) they added to that top number with 12 team blocks, an average of 4 blocks/set. Leading the way for HSU in blocks was sophomore middle blocker Jessica Moss as she totaled six solo blocks. Three others registered solo blocks with Cheyenne Derr and Sarah Williams also accounting for assisted blocks.

Moss was also active on the offensive end as she led the team with 12 kills and had an attack percentage of .333. Just behind Moss in kills were Ty Lindberg with nine and Williams with eight.

Lauren Ray led the team in digs with 16 while Lindberg and Yaritza Santiago each recorded 14 digs. Kiyanna Dade and Emily Belz paced the offense with 10 assists each.

The Lady Reddies will remain on the road this Saturday as they travel to Bethany, Okla. to take on Southern Nazarene University. The match versus SNU is set for noon.
