Volleyball Seeks To Maintain Win Streak Against Monticello

Lady Reddies Fell 3-2 In Last Meeting With UAM

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Coming off back-to-back wins, the Henderson State University volleyball team (3-13, 0-6 GAC) will square off against Arkansas-Monticello (10-10, 2-4 GAC) and look to record its third straight win and earn its first win in Great American Conference play.

HSU is coming off a 3-1 win over Lemoyne-Owen College on Oct. 11. Both Cheyenne Derr (Sr., Mansfield, Ark.) and Jessica Moss (Jr., Garland, Texas) both had outstanding performances with 12 kills apiece. Derr was just shy of recording a double-double with nine digs. Sophia Cansigno (Jr., Fort Worth, Texas) also recorded an individual best with nine scoops.

Jami Jackson (Jr., Kennett, Mo.) was stellar serving up a personal best eight aces, tying the HSU service ace record.

HSU has downed 442 kills this season, led by Katrina Goulbourne (Jr., Visalia, Calif.) who holds 119 kills. Moss is second on the team with 74, while Derr follows at 73.

As HSU averages 1.66 blocks per set, Moss is the team's leader with .82 blocks per set and Jackson has 34 total blocks for a .62 blocks per set average.

Taylor Thompson, a junior transfer from Yuba City, Calif. has recorded 367 assists, averaging 6.67 to lead the Lady Reddies.

Defensively, junior Lindsey Calabrese (San Jose, Calif.) just trails leader Derr (122), with 120 digs.

Arkansas-Monticello
Arkansas-Monticello is also coming off a 3-1 victory but against Mississippi Valley State University. Overall, the team is averaging a .143 attack percentage with 10.49 kills per set. In 79 sets played, the Blossoms have served 142 aces with 129 serving errors.

Tori Bozzo and Jessica Cuba are the attack leaders for Arkansas-Monticello with 2.86 and 1.96 kills per set, respectively. Gabriella Jancotti has posted 75.0 blocks this season while Tusalava Kuaea is Monticello's digs leader with 3.19 digs per set.

Last Meeting
The Reddies and Blossoms met on Oct. 1 in the Duke Wells Center. After falling 2-0 early on, HSU rallied back to even the score and force a fifth set. With the final set even at 11-11, UAM won the next four points and eventually won the set.

Goulbourne and Williams from HSU and Bozzo and Johnson from UAM all recorded match highs with 11 kills. In the back court, Large was the only Reddies with double-digit digs with 11, while Frankie Zaragoza and Cuba from the Blossoms had 11 and 10, respectively.
