WEATHERFORD, Okla. - The Henderson State University volleyball team (3-15, 0-7 GAC) was unsuccessful in an attempt to defeat Southwestern Oklahoma State University (8-15, 4-2 GAC) on Friday evening, but it was not all negative in its effort.
In a 3-0 loss, the Lady Reddies came within a few points of victory in each set, but fell 25-17, 25-18 and 25-20.
Junior Katrina Goulbourne (Visalia, Calif.) paced the Reddie offense, posting her fifth double-digit kill performance with 10. It was the second highest kill total in three sets by any HSU player in a three-set showing.
Although the SWOSU held HSU to a .155 attack percentage, it was the third highest total this season for the 2013 team.
Junior transfer Sophia Cansigno (Fort Worth, Texas) had her best showing in a Lady Reddie uniform, posting her first ever double-digit showing in the back court with 12 digs.
For the Bulldogs, their charge was led by Carly Zak and Alison Cole with 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Three SWOSU participants posted double-digit digs, with both Kenya Williams and Kaila Lancaster scooping 11 a piece. Overall the team was 43-of-103, adding a .282 attack percentage.
Henderson State will return to the court tomorrow in Alva, Okla. at 2 p.m. against Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where either the Lady Reddies or Rangers will earn their first Great American Conference win.
