Volleyball Returns To Home Court To Battle ECU

Henderson State Seeks First GAC Win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State University volleyball team (3-18, 0-9 GAC) will return home to the Duke Wells Center to face the fourth-ranked team in the conference, the East Central Tigers (8-14, 5-3 GAC).
 
With the first serve set to begin at noon on Saturday, the Lady Reddies will look to push the match past three sets. Currently, HSU sits at a 0-16 record while only playing three sets, but have found success while extending the game into a fourth or fifth set with a 3-2 record.

HSU has dropped their last five matchups, all being on the road. Two of their wins have come with the home court advantage, one coming against OPSU on Sept. 13th, and the other against Pine-Bluff on Oct. 10th.
 
Katrina Goulbourne (Jr., Visalia, Calif.) continues to top the Lady Reddies stats with 162 kills on the season.  Junior Jessica Moss (Garland, Texas) in nearing the 100-kill mark earning 94.  Junior Sarah Williams (Conroe, Texas) is one of most effective outside hitters for HSU, producing 89 kills in only 40 sets played.
 
Cheyenne Derr (Sr., Mansfield, Ark.), who is the only Lady Reddie to consistently to play both offense and defense, leads HSU with 158 digs and is fourth on the team with 81 kills.
 
Both middles, Moss and Jami Jackson (Jr., Kennett, Mo.) hold the top spot in blocks with 48 and 45, respectively.
 
Defensive specialists, Lindsey Calabrese (Jr., San Jose, Calif.) and Raegan Large (Jr., Montgomery, Texas) have totaled 37 percent of HSU digs this season with 138 and 132, respectively.
 
East Central
East Central will be led by senior Ashley Williams, who sits second in the conference with a .322 attack percentage in GAC matches. Williams also tops the GAC leader board with 1.21 blocks per set for the Tigers.
 
Overall, Danielle Essix is averaging 2.53 kills per set, but only holds a .194 attack percentage. In a 6-2 offense, the Tigers' offense is run by Jessica Wilkinson and Madison Seiler who sit at 5.37 and 4.59 assists per set, respectively.
 
Defensively at the net, ECU just edges out their opponent by .04 with 1.96 blocks per set, with Sarah Nelson leading the pack at .94.
 
Last Year's Meeting
Only meeting once in 2012, the ECU Tigers swept Henderson State on Oct. 20 in Ada, Okla.
 
Moss had the second-highest output for HSU with four kills, as the Lady Reddies only totaled 22 for the match.
