Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State University volleyball team took and ran with the VIP theme night as they dominated their match in every fashion as they strutted their stuff with a 3-0 win over LeMoyne-Owen, 3-0, Tuesday evening in the Duke Wells Center.

In their best showing of the 2013 season, the Lady Reddies recorded their fourth win of the season against the Magicians, never allowing them to score more than 10 points in a set.

As a team, the Lady Reddies (4-19) hit .405, with no one committing more than one attack error. With a team-best 36 kills in a three-set match, HSU nearly tripled the amount of LOC production, who was held to 13.

Junior
Sarah Williams (Conroe, Texas) led the charge adding nine kills on 17 attacks for a .471 attack percentage. Juniors
Jami Jackson (Kennett, Mo.) and
Katrina Goulbourne (Visalia, Calif.) both contributed with seven kills apiece, while also adding consistency as they both hit over .460.

Junior setter
Taylor Thompson (Yuba City, Calif.) had a superb all-around evening. Along with 25 assists, Thompson served a season-best seven aces in three sets. In addition, she had four key kills and four digs. HSU totaled 16 aces in the win, adding another season best to the list.

Senior
Cheyenne Derr (Mansfield, Ark.) led the Lady Reddies defensively at the net with a team-high three blocks and junior
Raegan Large (Montgomery, Texas) was the leader in the back court with six scoops.

The Henderson State Lady Reddies were unstoppable from the very start. In the first set, HSU jumped out to a 5-0 run before the Magicians called their first timeout. As Thompson served her first ace of the match, head coach
Rhonda Thigpen saw her team grab a double-digit lead at 13-3. Junior
Lindsey Calabrese (San Jose, Calif.) closed out the first match with an ace, slaying the Magicians by 17 points, 25-8.

The second set was continued to be controlled by HSU. Besting their start from the first set, the Lady Reddies quickly jumped out to a 7-0 lead, which was led by Goulbourne, who slammed four straight kills to start the set.

Although LeMoyne-Owen rattled off four straight points, HSU reversed that run and extended it, adding six more and push their lead 18-6. Williams' three kills in the closing points ensured a 25-10 win.

The Magicians saw their first lead of the night in the opening points in the third set but HSU would eventually settle down and regain back control of the game. Henderson State would close out the closing set with a 25-10 win and record their second win over LeMoyne-Owen this season in just 54 minutes.

HSU will return to Great American Conference action as they will host Southern Arkansas University on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
