Volleyball Welcomes Monticello To Duke Wells Center

Henderson State And Arkansas-Monticello Dual Tuesday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Between the Henderson State University volleyball team (1-10, 0-3 GAC) and Arkansas-Monticello (7-9, 0-3 GAC), one of those teams will record their first conference win on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in the Duke Wells Center at 7 p.m.
 
Henderson State
HSU is coming off a 3-0 loss to Arkansas Tech on Set. 26. The team only recorded 13 kills in the loss.
 
Katrina Goulbourne (Jr., Visalia, Calif.) continues to be the Reddies leader with 76 kills. Senior Cheyenne Derr (Mansfield, Ark.) is second on the team with 45 and Jessica Moss (Garland, Texas) follows with 45.
 
As HSU averages 1.14 blocks per set, Moss is the team's leader with .58 blocks per set and Jami Jackson (Jr., Kennett, Mo.) has 16 total blocks for a .46 block per set average.
 
Junior Lindsey Calabrese (San Jose, Calif.) has 87 of Henderson States 328 digs, with Derr second in this category as well with 72.
 
Taylor Thompson, a junior transfer from Yuba City, Calif. is the Reddies main setter and averages 6.49 assists of the teams' 7.17 assists per set.
 
Arkansas-Monticello
Arkansas-Monticello is coming over two victories in the Lyon College Tri-Match. In back-to-back matches, the Blossoms won 3-0 against Central Baptist and 3-2 versus Lyon College.
 
Overall, the team is averaging a .137 attack percentage with 10.3 kills per set. In 61 sets played, the Blossoms have served 109 aces with 98 serving errors.
 
Tori Bozzo and Jessica Cuba are the attack leaders for Arkansas-Monticello with 2.61 and 2.10 kills per set, respectively. Gabriella Jancotti has posted 48.0 blocks this season while Tusalava Kuaea is Monticello's digs leader with 3.60 digs per set.
 
Last Year's Meeting
The Reddies and Blossoms only met for one time last season. On Sept. 25, 2012, Monticello defended its home court with a 3-0 win. All three sets were close and HSU even pushed the last set into extras, 29-27.

Moss totaled six solo blocks, while Derr and Sarah Williams (Jr., Conroe, Texas) also accounted for assisted blocks.
 
Moss was also active on the offensive end as she led the team with 12 kills and had an attack percentage of .333.
