REDDIES BEGIN SECOND HALF OF GAC SCHEDULE

Henderson State will begin the second round of Great American Conference play as the Reddies travel to Monticello on Saturday to take on Arkansas-Monticello with tip-off set for 4 p.m.
 
The Reddies are coming off a 61-59 loss to Ouachita Baptist and will enter the game with an 8-10 record overall and a 4-6 mark in league play.

Henderson State remains as the top shooting team in the Great American Conference with a 47.2 percentage.
 
In the first game against Arkansas-Monticello, Reggie Murphy was a force inside scoring 22 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Murphy was 10-for-10 from the field against the Boll Weevils. The junior from Los Angeles averages 10.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season.
 
Deoirvay Johnson continues to lead the team in scoring averaging 13.7 points per game.           


Melvin Haynes follows Johnson averaging 12.8 points per game and is also Henderson's top free-throw shooter converting on 43-of-50 attempts (86%). 
 
Ronald Lawson is averaging 10.7 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game.          


Arkansas-Monticello enters the game with a 12-6 record overall and are 5-5 in the GAC after a 99-97 overtime loss to Southern Arkansas on Thursday.
 
The Boll Weevils have one of the top scoring offenses in the league averaging 78.8 points per game and are outscoring their opponents by 8.1 points per contest.
 
UAM is second in the league behind Henderson State in field goal percentage, knocking down 47.1 percent.
 
Brandon Wilson leads the Boll Weevils in scoring averaging 18.2 points per contest and leads the team in rebounding averaging 7.9 boards per game. Wilson scored 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds earlier this year against the Reddies.         


Jared Harrison follows averaging 12.5 points per game. Harrison shoots 43 percent from beyond the arc having converted on 32-of-74 attempts. In the first game against Henderson, Harrison scored 16 points while making three 3-point field goals.   


Henderson State leads the all-time series having a 91-58 advantage in a series which began in 1913.
 
UAM won earlier this season 66-65 when Kenric McCants hit a pair of free throws with 3 seconds remaining.
