ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Henderson State volleyball team will host their annual Cancer Awareness Night on Tuesday, October.14. The Reddies will take on the visiting Golden Suns from Arkansas Tech at 7:00 p.m. in a Great American Conference match-up.
The Reddies(0-8 GAC, 3-16 overall) are coming off of a win over Oklahoma Panhandle State last Friday, and hope to continue the streak against the Golden Suns, who sport an 8-1 GAC and 16-5 overall record.
Jessica Moss currently ranks second in the GAC in kills per set, averaging 3.59. The senior from Garland, Texas was the key factor in the victory over OPSU, as she racked up a career-high 28 kills and .480 attack percentage.
Moss also leads the team in blocks with 51, while
Charlai Francis follows closely behind with 44.
Setter
Ryleigh Thompson ranks fourth in the GAC in assists per set, averaging 9.29, and
Andjela Reljic ranks second in digs per set with 4.93.
As part of Cancer Awareness Night, the Reddies will wear special pink jerseys, which will be auctioned off to raise money for cancer research.
"This is an important annual event for our team," said Reddies head coach
Rhonda Thigpen. "A number of members of our team, including myself, have had family members impacted by cancer and we want to do our part to help the cause. All money raised at the event will be donated to Cancer Research in Little Rock."
Fans wishing to place a bid on a jersey can do so by emailing Coach Thigpen at
thigper@hsu.edu with their bid and the number they wish to bid on. The auction will from the beginning of the game through the intermission after the second set of Tuesday's match.
The minimum bid is $35, with cash & checks accepted.
