Box Score First-place Arkansas Tech totaled 43 kills and used a .269 hitting percentage to beat Henderson State 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, and 25-18), in Great American Conference volleyball action Tuesday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Arkansas Tech, 17-5 overall and 9-1 in the GAC, opened the match with a 25-22 win in the first set behind Emily Todd's and McCall Wilkins' five kills each.
The Golden Suns built a five-point lead in the set but the Reddies continued to fight back scoring four straight points to make the score 24-22.
Nayeli Colunga had a pair of kills along with blocks by Colunga and
Charlai Francis helped cut the deficit to two. However, a Henderson service error allowed for ATU to take the set.
Arkansas Tech controlled the final two sets as the Golden Suns had a .458 attack percentage in the second game, while the Reddies committed 14 errors in the final two sets.
Henderson State, 3-17 and 0-9, totaled 23 spikes and had a .074 attack percentage in the match.
Jessica Moss ended the match with eight kills and three block assists, while Colunga finished with five kills.
Ryleigh Thompson finished with 16 set assists for Henderson.
Todd led Arkansas Tech with 12 kills and a .391 attack percentage.
Henderson State will play host to Southeastern Oklahoma on Friday with the first serve set for 4 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
