Box Score Henderson State put forth one of its best performances of the year, but fell short as Harding beat the Reddies 19-25, 25-14, 25-23, 21-15 and 15-9, in volleyball action Thursday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Nayeli Colunga and
Jessica Moss had 14 kills to lead Henderson State.
Henderson quickly won the opening set as the Reddies compiled a .212 hitting percentage.
The Reddies, 4-22 on the season, got a balanced attack from
Violet Williams,
Jessica Moss and
Nayeli Colunga, all having three kills each.
Harding, 17-6 overall, committed eight attack errors in the set and had just a .059 attack percentage.
The Bisons picked up the pace in the second set getting six spikes for winners by Molly Howard as Harding had a stout .387 attack percentage.
In set three, both teams battled back and forth before Harding was able to win the final two points of the set to win 25-23 and go on top two sets to one.
Henderson State tied the match at two sets each as the Reddies exploded for a .281 attack percentage while Harding struggled committing eight errors as the Bison offense hit just .032.
Harding controlled the final set as the Bisons had six attacks for points while the Reddies committed six attack errors in the set.
Setter
Ryleigh Thompson totaled 41 set assists, while
Andjela Reljic total 29 defensive digs. Colunga completed a double-double by having 22 digs.
Henderson compiled a .129 attack percentage in the match, while Harding hit .142.
Henderson State will travel across the ravine to take on Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday with first serve set for 7 p.m.
