Box Score Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist tangled in a classic volleyball match as the two teams battled in a five set thriller with the Tigers edging the Reddies.
Henderson State, 4-23 overall and 0-12 in the GAC, won the opening set 25-22, before OBU claimed the next two games 25-21 and 25-19. The Reddies fought back to tie the match by winning the fourth set 25-17. The final set had four lead changes before OBU won 15-13 to take the match.
Four Reddies had double-figures in kills with
Jessica Moss leading the way with 24 spikes and an impressive .347 hitting percentage.
Nayeli Colunga,
Carli Owens and
Violet Williams all had 10 kills each, with Williams having a .333 attack percentage and Owens posting a .240 percentage.
Defensively,
Andjela Reljic totaled 21 digs with Colunga adding 18 digs to record a double-double.
Rayleigh Thompson had 45 set assists and
Samantha Sawyer provided 12 assists.
Henderson had a better hitting percentage than OBU with the Reddies hitting .218 while OBU hit .207.
The Reddies combined for eight total blocks, but in the end it was the 12 service errors that proved costly.
Henderson State returns home Thursday to play host to Christian Brothers with the first serve set for 6 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
