Box Score Henderson State(1-2) fell to 0-2 in the Great American Conference standings on Saturday afternoon at the Duke Wells Center, as the East Central Tigers(3-0), now 2-0 in the GAC, defeated the Reddies 67-46.
After shooting 45 percent from the field in the first half and trailing by three points, the Reddies cooled down to just 33 percent in the second, while East Central took control and made half of their attempts in the second period, including four 3-point baskets.
From the 3-point line, the Reddies shot just 2-of-17, while the Tigers made four more, sinking 6-of-17.
HSU forced just 9 turnovers from ECU, while the Tigers were able to score 23 points off of 22 Reddie turnovers.
However, the Reddies edged out the Tigers 36-35 in the rebounding category.
Makyndra Simmons led the way for the Reddies with 16 points, and also pulled down six rebounds.
Deidra McCoy tied her season high in rebounds with 15, and also scored five points.
Four Tiger players scored in double digits, as Taylor Fischer led the balanced ECU attack with 18 points.
Erin Walling scored 15 points, while Ashleigh Kelman-Poto had 13.
After not scoring in the first half, the Tigers' Dilan Webster scored 12 second half points, giving ECU the momentum it needed to pull away.
The Reddies will look to rebound on Tuesday, as they travel to Emporia, Kan. to take on Emporia State. Tipoff is scheduled for  7 p.m.
