MURPHY, KOZAN LEADS REDDIES PAST LANE 83-69

Reggie Murphy and Kevin Kozan scored 22 points each to lead Henderson State to an 83-69 win over Lane College, Saturday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Kozan's 22 points was a career-high as the sophomore from New Lenox, Ill. was 6-of-10 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the foul line.

Murphy was 9-of-16 from the field and also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Ryan Yeates also scored in double-figures for the Reddies having 13 points along with three assists.

Kerrell Davis chipped in with 8 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals, while Aaron Cooper had a game-high 7 assists along with 5 points.

Henderson held a 37-32 lead at the break with the help of 50 percent shooting from the field as the Reddies shot 13-of-26 from the field.

The Reddie defense also gave the Dragons trouble forcing 14 turnovers which led to 14 points in the first 20 minutes.

Henderson State, 3-3 on the season, held a double-digit lead for most of the second half until Lane pulled to within seven at the 7:35 mark following a layup by Tevyn Roberts and a pair of free throws by Terrance Bridgeman.

However, the Reddies pushed their lead back to 11 with a layup and a pair of free throws by Yeates.

Henderson also made the most at the foul line in the second half making 14-of-16 free throws, and ended the game converting on 20-of-26 freebies for 77 percent.

Lane, 0-4 on the year, was led by Donald Stewart who had a game-high 24 points.

The Reddies finished the game shooting 48 percent from the field (27-of-56), while Lane hit on 24-of-52 shots for 46 percent.

Henderson's defense forced 30 Dragons turnovers which led to 27 points for the Reddies.

Henderson State will return to Great American Conference play on Thursday when the Reddies play host to Arkansas-Monticello with the opening tip set for 7:30 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.
