HENDERSON STATE TO TAKE ON HARDING IN GAC CLASH

Henderson State will embark on its first Great American Conference road games of the season as the Reddies face Harding in Searcy, Ark. at the Rhodes Fieldhouse.
 
The women's game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff, with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
 
Henderson's women will be face their fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the season as Harding is ranked 20th having a 6-2 overall record and a 3-0 mark in GAC play.
 
The Reddies are attempting to end a three-game losing skid and are coming off a 70-56 loss to nationally-ranked Arkansas Tech last Saturday.
 
Aungelique Sledge continues to lead the team in scoring averaging 16.7 points per game.
 
The senior from West Helena, Ark. needs just 52 more points to become only the 10th player in Henderson State history to record 1000 points in a career.
 
Haleigh Henson follows Sledge, averaging 9.9 points per contest. The freshman from Greenwood, Ark. leads the team in 3-point field goals with 19.  
 
The Lady Bisons have three players who average double-figures, with Arielle Saunders leading the way at 15.9 points per game, while also averaging 10.9 rebounds per contest.
 
Correy Moyer averages 10.9 points and Montana Lewis averages 13.8.
 
The Lady Bisons are averaging 79.1 points per game this season, while limiting their opponents to just 61.8 points.
 
The Henderson State men will attempt to stay atop the GAC standings as the Reddies bring a 6-3 record into Saturday's contest after a 113-55 win over Champion Baptist on Tuesday at the Duke Wells Center.
 
Henderson State has won four straight games including GAC victories over Arkansas Tech and Arkansas-Monticello.
 
The Reddies are averaging 72.0 points per game and are shooting 46.9 percent from the field.
 
Reggie Murphy leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
 
Kevin Kozan has had the hot hand as of late and follows Murphy averaging 14.9 points per game while shooting 55.1 percent from the field, including 51 percent from beyond the arc making 26-of-51 3-point field goals. In the last four games, Kozan is averaging 18.0 points per game and has made 15-of-30 three-point field goals.
 
Harding enters the game with a 3-5 overall record and 1-2 in the GAC. The Bisons are coming off a 71-69 loss to Arkansas-Monticello last Saturday.
 
Harding currently ranks fifth in the GAC in scoring (75.4 points per game) and leads the league in 3-point field goals made averaging 9.5 per game.

Four players average double-figures for the Bisons with Andraz Kavas leading the team in scoring at 18.3 points and 7.1 points.  Johnathan McGee follows averaging 11.6 points and a team-best 30 assists.          

Also averaging double-figures are Jacob Gibson (11.6 ppg.) and Blake McNair (11.1 ppg.). Gibson averaged 20.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in three games last year against the Reddies, while McNair averaged 18.3 points.
 
Henderson State and Harding have played 114 times with the Reddies leading the series with a 73-41 advantage. The first meeting between the two teams was during the 1956-57 season.
 
Last season, the two teams split during the regular-season with each team recording home wins. The Reddies and the Bisons then met in the GAC Tournament Championship with Harding winning a 93-88 in double-overtime. Harding has won nine of the last 12 meetings.
 
In the last four games, Henderson State is outscoring its opponents 82.0 to 59.5. The Reddies are shooting 51.1 percent from the field, while limiting their opponents to 38.6 shooting.      

Henderson's defense has also forced 90 turnovers in the last four games, resulting in 96 points for the Reddies.
