HENDERSON STATE TO PLAY HOST TO ATU IN GAC HOOPS

Henderson State returns to the court on Saturday as Reddie play host to Arkansas Tech with the women tipping off at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game at 3 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
 
The HSU women sport a 2-6 overall record, and will be playing their third nationally ranked opponent in Arkansas Tech in 10 days as the Golden Suns rank 24th entering the contest.
 
Earlier this season, the Reddies fell to Emporia State (1) and Pittsburg State (8).
 
On Thursday, Arkansas-Monticello used a late second-half surge to beat Henderson State 66-62.

Annie Thomas, who hit 4-of-6 three-point field goals, led the balanced Reddie scoring attack with 14 points while also leading the team in rebounds with seven. Both Deidra McCoy and Vanessa Pieper each had 10 points apiece to round out the double-digit scorers for Henderson State.

Aungelique Sledge leads the Reddies averaging 16.1 points per game, while Haleigh Henson averages 10.9 points per outing.
 
Arkansas Tech, 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the GAC, have three players who average double-digit scoring, with Fatima Adams leading the way at 21.5 points per game, while also averaging 10.5 rebounds per game.

Anissa Pounds averages 14.7 points and Katrina Hayden averages 13.8.

Arkansas Tech rolled to an 84-54 win over Ouachita Baptist on Thursday evening at Tucker Coliseum. Hayden scored 19 points in the win, while Adams scored 12 and pulled down 13 rebounds.

Arkansas Tech leads the all-time series over Henderson State 61-to-29.
 
The Reddie men will attempt to win their third straight game and at the same time end a six-game losing streak to Arkansas Tech.
 
Henderson State brings a 4-3 record into Saturday's contest after a 63-51 win over Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday at the Duke Wells Center.
 
The Reddies are averaging 66.6 points per game and are shooting 44.2 percent from the field.
 
Reggie Murphy leads the Reddies in scoring averaging 16.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The senior from Los Angeles recorded a double-double on Thursday against UAM scoring 15 points and grabbing a career-best 14 rebounds.
 
Kevin Kozan follows averaging 13.3 points per game while shooting 54.7 percent from the field, including 51.4 percent from beyond the arc making 18-of-35 3-point field goals.
 
Kelvin Dixon had a breakout game against UAM scoring a game-high 16 points while having 9 boards. The senior from the Bronx, N.Y. is averaging 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
 
The Wonder Boys are 4-4 overall and 0-1 in GAC contests following a 64-57 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Thursday.
 
Arkansas Tech currently ranks eighth in the GAC in scoring (68.0 points per game) and sixth in points allowed (70.1 per game).   

Mike Balogun leads the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game and is the top 3-point shooter on the team having made 21-of-56 trifectas.           

Clarence Willard follows averaging 11.2 points and a team-best 21 assists.

Also averaging double-figures is Nick Wayman who is scoring 11.0 points per game while leading the team in rebounds with 6.3 boards per contest.
 
Henderson State and Arkansas-Tech have played 155 times with the Reddies leading the series with an 80-75 advantage. The first meeting between the two teams was during the 1910-11 season.
 
Last season, Arkansas Tech won both meetings. If fact, the Wonder Boys have won the last six meetings and 14 of the last 15. Henderson's lone win since 2007 was a 97-94 win on Jan. 12, 2012 in Coach Doug Nichols' first year as head coach of the Reddies.
