Box Score Arkansas Tech got a 28 point performance from Fatima Adams as the 24th-ranked Golden Suns used a big second-half to beat Henderson State 70-56, Saturday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Henderson State, 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the Great American Conference, challenged Arkansas Tech for most of the game until the Golden Suns defense limited the Reddies to just 2-of-14 shooting in the final 9 minutes.
The Reddies held the lead for most of the first-half until Arkansas Tech outscored HSU 10 to 4 in the final five minutes to take a 32-26 lead at the break.
Henderson State started the second half on a 9-0 run as 
Annie Thomas opened with a 3-point field goal, followed by a pair of treys by 
Aungelique Sledge to give the Reddies a 35-32 lead at the 17:42 minute mark.
Henderson, however, failed to make another 3-point goal the remainder of the game and converted on 6-of-25 from the field.
Arkansas Tech, 7-0 on the year and 2-0 in the league, also benefitted from the charity stripe making 22-of-27 free throws including 17-of-22 in the second half.
Sledge led Henderson State in scoring with 21 points going 8-of-19 from the field. The senior from West Helena, Ark. also had six rebounds
Thomas ended the game with her first career double-double having 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Henderson State finished the game shooting 32 percent from the field making 18-of-56 attempts, while the Golden Suns were 23-of-67 from the floor for 34 percent shooting.
The Reddies will next travel to Searcy, Ark. to face Harding on Saturday, Dec. 13 with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Rhodes Field House.
