Women's Volleyball Troy Mitchell

HSU VOLLEYBALL PUT FORTH SOLID EFFORT IN LOSS TO SWOSU

Box Score Southwestern Oklahoma rallied in the second and third sets to beat Henderson State 25-19, 29-27, and 25-23 in Great American Conference volleyball action Friday, at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Henderson State showed great effort and built solid leads in both the second and third sets, but a veteran Bulldog teamed overcame the deficit to improve to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Henderson State's Jessica Moss continued her hot hitting in the opening set having five kills, but it wasn't enough as SWOSU won 25-19. Joey Collins had four spikes for the Bulldogs while Brandy Mader had nine set assists.

In set two the Reddies built a 17-11 lead behind the serving of Zara Loye and Andjela Reljic, but the Bulldogs rallied to win 29-27 with the help of a .295 attack percentage.

Henderson State led 17-9 in the third set behind Nayeli Colunga's six spikes. However, Collins hit her stride midway through the set and had eight kills to rally the Bulldogs.

Moss ended the match with another strong performance with 14 kills and a .367 attack percentage.

Rayleigh Thompson had a double-double with 34 set assists and 11 defensive digs, while Reljic finished with 21 digs.

Henderson State continues its home schedule on Saturday against Northwestern Oklahoma with the first serve set for 2 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.
