Box Score Henderson State could not overcome a 20-point halftime deficit as the Reddies lost to Southwestern Oklahoma 74-56, Saturday in Weatherford, Okla.
Southwestern Oklahoma, 14-11 overall and 8-10 in the Great American Conference, used a 20 to 4 run during a five-minute span midway through the first half to build a 32-15 lead.
The Reddies, 10-14 and 7-11, hit one of six shots from the field and committed five turnovers during the Bulldog surge.
Henderson managed 8-of-27 from the field in the opening half and would enter the break trailing 41-21.
The Reddies would outscore Southwestern Oklahoma the second half, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Reggie Murphy led the Reddies in scoring with 18 points while pulling down a team-best eight rebounds.
Rashad Perkins added 11 points, with
Charles Wesley scoring seven.
Jordan Vance came off the bench to hit a pair of 3-point field goals in a span of five minutes to add six points.
After shooting 45 percent from the field in the second half, the Reddies finished the game making 17-of-47 from the floor for 36.2 percent shooting.
Henderson made 5-of-16 three-point field goals, with the Reddies converting on 17-of-27 free throws.
Southwestern Oklahoma was led by Kenyan Borders who totaled 18 points.
SWOSU hit on 24-of-56 shots from the field for 43 percent, with the Bulldogs hitting on 8-of-23 trifectas and 18-of-22 from the foul line.
Henderson State will next take on Ouachita Baptist on Thursday at Vining Arena with the opening tip set for 7:30 p.m.
