REDDIES TO FACE FIRST-PLACE OBU ON THURSDAY


Henderson State will travel across highway 7 to take on first-place Ouachita Baptist in the Battle of the Ravine on Thursday with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. in Vining Arena.
 
The two teams will meet for the 200th time in the 102-year history of the rivalry.
 
OBU leads the all-time series with Henderson State having a 102-97 advantage. OBU has won 8 of the last 11 meetings and 13 of the last 17 contests dating back to 2007.           
 
The Reddies beat the Tigers 71-67 in the first meeting on Jan. 22 at the Duke Wells center.
 
Henderson State has a 10-14 record overall and a 7-11 record in league play entering the final week of GAC play. The Reddies must win their final two games to have a chance of advancing to the GAC Tournament next week.
           
The Reddies are averaging 70.4 points per game this season but the defense is surrendering 71.5 points per contest.  

Reggie Murphy is leading the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. The senior from Los Angeles is averaging 16.8 points per game in the last five contests. 

Kevin Kozan follows at 13.5 points per game while hitting on 68-of-165 three-point field goals for 41.2 percent. Kozan scored 21 points in the first game against OBU.       

Micah Walker is scoring 9.6 points per contest. Walker had 9 points and five rebounds earlier this year against OBU.
 
Ouachita Baptist is 19-4 overall and 15-3 in GAC play. The Tigers have already claimed the GAC regular-season title and will be the top seed in the GAC Tournament in Bartlesville, Okla.
           
OBU is the top scoring team in the league averaging 78.7 points per game, while allowing just 68.6 points per contest.
 
Tirrell Brown leads the team in scoring and ranks third in the league averaging 18.3 points. Brown is sixth in the GAC in rebounding pulling down 7.8 boards per game.
 
Brown leads the league in shooting converting on 64.1 percent from the field.     
Colt Fason follows averaging 13.8 points including a team best 8.1 rebounds per game.
 
In the first meeting earlier this year, Kevin Kozan's 3-point performance helped Henderson State upset OBU 71-67.
 
Kozan ended the game with 21 points including going 7-for-10 from 3-point range. Kelvin Dixon would follow with 16 points, while Micah Walker and Rashad Perkins would both finish with 9 points.
 
OBU was led by Tirrell Brown's 25 points, while Colt Fason finished with 18.
