Reddie Women's Basketball Set for Matchup with #20 Arkansas Tech

Coming off a Battle of the Ravine victory over Ouachita on Monday, the Henderson State women's basketball team looks to continue its success on Thursday in a Great American Conference matchup against Arkansas Tech, with tipoff slated for 5:30 p.m.

The Reddies enter the contest against 20th ranked Arkansas Tech with a 6-3 Great American Conference record.

HSU defeated Ouachita 82-69 on Monday, and was led by Dulincia Keener who had 26 points and scored her 1000th point of her career.

Henderson finished the game shooting 53 percent from the field making 34-of-64 shot attempts, while OBU converted on 28-of-53 for 53 percent.

Henderson State dished out 14 team assists in that game, and also ended the game shooting 9-of-23 from the three point line for 39 percent, as Torrie Thompson knocked down five threes and had 17 points.

The Reddies average 73.1 points per game this season, shooting 41 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range while also knocking down 1.4 more three-pointers per game than opponents this season.

Keener leads the team in scoring this season averaging 19.4 points per game, and also averages 8.7 rebounds per contest.

Victoria Stewart averages 12.7 points per game along with 2.9 assists per game, while Haleigh Henson is third in scoring averaging 11.7 points.

Arkansas Tech comes in off an impressive 80-52 home victory over Harding on Monday, and sport a 9-0 record in the GAC.

ATU finished that game at 54 percent from the field (30-of-56) as Fatima Adams led the Golden Suns with 21 points, while Calli White had 18.

The Golden Suns out-rebounded Harding 43-27, and had 18 assists while limiting the Lady Bisons to just seven and also forced 15 turnovers.

ATU leads the all-time series over HSU 64-to-29.

The first time the two institutions played each other was in the 1971-72 season, as the Reddies took a 55-52 victory.

Last time the two schools squared off, HSU fell to the Golden Suns at in the GAC Tournament 96-84 on March 5, 2015.

This season, Henderson State is 4-1 at home, with victories over East Central, Southeastern Oklahoma, Rogers State, and Ouachita. HSU will look to improve to 5-1 in home contests on Thursday if it can come up with a win over Arkansas Tech.
