Reddie Men's Basketball Falls on Road at Northwestern Oklahoma

The Henderson State men's basketball team fell in Great American Conference action at Northwestern Oklahoma 64-56 on Saturday evening.

Henderson State(3-8, 2-4 GAC) got off to a sluggish start, as the Reddies connected on just 9-of-23 attempts from the field in the first half for 32 percent.

The Reddies opened up the second half strong as Kevin Kozan connected from three for his first points of the game and gave the Reddies a 34-32 lead one minute in.

NWOSU(2-8, 2-4 GAC) then stormed out to an 11-point lead over the next 12 minutes before the Reddies attempted to mount a comeback.

HSU would pull within three at the 2:48 mark on a Pomlee jumper, making the score 55-52 in favor of NWOSU.

However, NWOSU would answer as Adrian Motley returned the favor with a layup on the next possession to push the Ranger lead back to five.

The Reddies could draw no closer as the Rangers continued to make free throws down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Pomlee led all Reddie scorers on the night, as the senior from Davenport, Iowa scored 13 points on 5-of-10 attempts from the field, and also led HSU with eight rebounds.

Alioune Mboup also pitched in his second straight contest in double-digit scoring, as the Dakhar, Senegal product contributed 11 points.

HSU finished the evening shooting 35 percent from the field on 18-of-51 attempts, while NWOSU was 22-of-57 for 39 percent.

NWOSU edged the Reddies in the rebounding category, as the Rangers pulled down 41 to Henderson State's 39.

From the charity stripe, the Reddies connected on 16-of-29 attempts for 55 percent, and NWOSU made 18-of-28 for 64 percent.

Henderson State will look to rebound on Thursday as the Reddies travel to Magnolia, Ark. to take on Southern Arkansas in GAC play.
