Reddies aim for Battle of the Ravine sweep on Tuesday

The Henderson State volleyball team crosses Highway 7 on Tuesday night looking for a season sweep of rival Ouachita Baptist in the second edition of the Battle of the Ravine at 6:30 p.m. in the Sturgis Physical Education Center.

Series:
The two schools met earlier this season on Sept. 29 in the Duke Wells Center, with the Reddies capturing their first win over OBU since 2010 in a 3-2 thriller. Henderson leads the all-time series between the schools 28-17.

Henderson State (12-12) Notes:

The Reddies are 7-5 in Great American Conference play this season and are currently in a tie for fifth place in the conference with Arkansas-Monticello.

Sophomore outside hitter Sharon Tukuaoga's 364 total kills and 3.91 kills per set average are both good for second-best in the GAC, while her .291 hitting percentage is ninth in the conference. Tukuaoga has been on a tear recently and has a hitting percentage of .402 with 99 kills in the last five matches for the Reddies.

Defensively freshman middle blocker Adrianna Hartmann and junior libero Sydney Skelton continue to stand out for the Reddies. Hartmann is fourth in the conference in total blocks (80) and fifth in the GAC in blocks per set (0.90). Skelton is third in the GAC in total digs (479) and fourth in digs per set (5.10).

The Reddies' freshman setting duo of Sariah Boney and Haley Higgins continues to shine. The two have combined for over 1000 assists on the year, Boney with 633 and Higgins with 396.

As a team, the Reddies are third in the GAC in total blocks (178) and fourth in blocks per set (1.89), fourth in assists per set (11.93) and fifth in kills per set (12.46).

Henderson is 5-2 in true road games this year and has won its last three matches away from home.

Ouachita Baptist (18-6) Notes:

The Tigers are 8-4 in GAC play in 2016 and are in a tie for third place with Arkansas Tech.  They have won seven of their last eight games coming into Tuesday night's contest.

OBU is lead offensively by Kori Bullard, Tabatha Huckabee and Adrianna Nolly, who all have over 200 kills on the year. Tigers' setter Stormi Leonard leads the conference in both total assists (970) and assists per set (10.78).

Defensively, senior libero Ashley Wake ranks second in the GAC in total digs (483) and digs per set (5.37) while Nolly and Taylor Williams are seventh and eighth in the conference, respectively, in blocks per set.

As a team, OBU ranks near the top of the GAC in several major categories. They are tied for first in hitting percentage (.229), third in blocks per set (1.97), and fourth in both kills per set (12.62) and opponent hitting percentage (.172).
