After a tough week, the Henderson State volleyball team will try to get back to its winning ways Tuesday night when it faces Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m. in Monticello, Arkansas.
Â
Series:
The all-time series between the schools is tied 11-11. Henderson took the first meeting of the season 3-0 back on Sept. 20 in Arkadelphia. The win was the Reddies' first over the Blossoms since 2010.
Â
Henderson State (12-14) Notes:
Â
The Reddies went through the Great American Conference gauntlet in their last three games, as they faced the top three teams in the conference – Harding, Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas Tech – in the span of a week, dropping all three matches.
Â
Henderson's conference record is now 7-7 with two regular season games remaining. A win over UAM on Tuesday night would clinch the Reddies' first season with a .500 or better conference winning percentage since 2009, when they went 7-5 in the Gulf South Conference.
Â
Sharon Tukuaoga continues to stay near the top of the GAC leaderboard in several major offensive categories. She is second in total kills (394) and kills per set (3.94) and ninth in hitting percentage (.275).
Â
Defensively, libero
Sydney Skelton is third in the GAC in digs (526) and digs per set (5.21), while
Adrianna Hartmann is fourth in blocks (87) and blocks per set (0.91).
Â
As a team, Henderson is fourth in kills per set (12.61), assists per set (12.06) and blocks per set (1.87).
Â
Arkansas-Monticello (11-15) Notes:
Â
The Blossoms are 7-7 in GAC play this year. They've lost their last two games, but prior to that had won eight of their last nine.
Â
UAM is led offensively by senior Carolina Gasparini, who is fifth in the conference in kills (294) and sixth in kills per set (3.13). She is also one of the deadliest players in the GAC from behind the service line, as she leads the league in service aces (51) and services aces per set (.54).
Â
Defensively, the Blossoms look to senior Kya Standford who is third in the GAC in blocks (92) and blocks per set (.97) and junior libero Macy Mitchell who has 462 digs on the year.
Â
Monticello is the best serving team in the conference. They lead the GAC with 1.51 service aces per set. UAM is also fourth in the league in team hitting percentage (.205).
