Henderson State will play its final game before the Christmas holiday as the Reddies face Ecclesia, Friday at 7 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
Henderson, 6-2 on the season, has been one of the top shooting teams in the GAC converting on 51 percent from the field while averaging 83.8 points per contest.
Chris Hawkins has scored 20-or more points in the last three games and is averaging 14.5 points per game for the season. The graduate student from Chicago, Ill. leads the GAC in field goal percentage connecting on 68 percent.
Hawkins also leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 boards per outing.
Kaylon Tappin leads the Reddies in scoring at 15.1 points per game.
Also scoring in double-figures for the Reddies are
Kevin Kozan and
Toney Foster.
Kozan averages 10.9 points while shooting 42 percent from 3-point range, while Foster averages 10.6 points connecting on 55 percent from beyond the arc (11-for-20). Â
Ecclesia is located in Springdale, Ark. and is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).
Ecclesia, 5-7 on the season, averages 89.3 points per game while allowing 83.4 points per contest.
The Royals are led by DQ Bagsby who averages 19.6 points per game while leading the team in 3-point field goals connecting on 51 of 92 attempts.
David Gaut also averages in double-figures scoring 11.3 points per contest.
Following Friday's contest, Henderson will break for the Christmas holiday then return to the court on December 29 when the Reddies travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo. to face Southeast Missouri in exhibition play.
Henderson returns home of Dec. 31 for a meeting with Paul Quinn College at 2 p.m. Â
