A strong second half from East Central propelled the Tigers past the Henderson State men's basketball team in Great American Conference action by a score of 58-46 on Thursday night in Ada, Okla.
Henderson State trailed 27-23 at the break, as both teams struggled from the field in the first half as HSU shot 10-of-31 for 32 percent and ECU was 8-of-23 for 35 percent.
East Central stormed out in the second half on a 13-4 run through the first two minutes of the second half, and eventually would double it over the next eight minutes as the Tigers would stretch their lead to 23, leading 53-30 at the 9:55 mark.
Henderson State finished the contest making 18-of-59 attempts from the field for 31 percent, while East Central, although held well below their season average of 82 points per game, finished making 19-of-53 attempts for 36 percent.
The Reddie would connect on just two three-point attempts in the game, while East Central knocked down 6-of-25.
In the rebounding category, ECU narrowly edged out HSU 43-to-42, while the Reddies pulled down 11 offensive boards to just eight for the Tigers.
Individually,
Alioune Mboup led Henderson State with 13 points on 5-of-9 attempts from the field, while
Matt Panaggio finished with seven points and nine boards.
Tavian Pomlee also had a strong night on the boards pulling down eight, while also scoring six points.
Stirling Thomas led all ECU scorers with 17 points, and was the only Tiger to score in double-figures.
The Reddies will look to rebound on the road Saturday at Southeastern Oklahoma, with tipoff slated for 3 p.m. in Durant, Okla.
