Henderson State banged out a season-high 15 hits to take game one of a Great American Conference baseball series from East Central, beating the Tigers 16-1 on Sunday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The series was originally to be played Friday and Saturday in Ada, Okla. but heavy rains over the past several days changed both the dates and venue of the series.
The Reddies, 10-11 overall and 7-3 in GAC play, scored in all but one inning beginning with three runs in the first highlighted by doubles by
Joseph Gary and
Jared Gage.
Henderson added a run in the second as
Hunter Mayall tripled and scored on a Gary ground out.
Three more runs would be added in the third with Henderson having only one hit in the frame.
Matt Evans would belt a three-run double in the fourth-inning as the Reddies scored four runs. Evans again would aid Henderson in the sixth with a two-run double, while Gage collected his second double of the game.
Luke McGuire added a double in the seventh and scored on an
Alan Hall double as the Reddies would invoke the 10-run rule on ECU.
Gage would lead Henderson going 3-for-3 having two of Henderson's eight doubles in the game.
Evans would finish 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and five runs batted in, with Mayall also had two hits with a triple and 2 RBI.
Hayden Lessenberry had a multiple-hit game as well, going 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.
Luke Tebbetts pitched six-innings, allowing two hits and striking out four batters in improving to 2-1 on the year. Tebbetts' only blemish was a solo home run by JT Stevenson.
Josh Henderson pitched the final inning retiring the side in order while picking up a strikeout.

The teams will play a doubleheader on Monday with the first pitch set for Noon at Clyde Berry.
