White, Reddies Pound UAM in Softball Twin Bill

Ashlyn White hit three home runs to lead Henderson State to a double-header sweep of Arkansas-Monticello 4-2 and 14-4, Saturday at Dee White Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.

White increased her season total to eight as the junior from Longview, Texas was 4-for-4 on the day with 9 RBI.

Henderson, 15-15 overall and 6-12 in the Great American Conference, totaled 19 hits including five home runs in the double-header.

In the opener, White delivered her first long ball of the day in the third-inning with a three-run shot over the right field wall to lead the Reddies to the 4-2 victory.

Henderson totaled eight hits in the game with Caroline Cullins going 3-for-3 with a double, triple and two runs scored.

Courtney Warren and White both had two hits with White having all four runs batted in.

Michelle Sorensen went the distance in the circle striking out six batters while allowing five hits to improve to 9-7 on the year.

In game two, Henderson exploded for 10 runs in the first-inning and never looked back.

White hit her second home run of the day in the opening frame, while Shayla White collected her first hit of the year, a two-run blast later in the inning. It was White's first ever career home run.

Keirsten Seahorn and Ashleigh Erp both had two-run singles in the inning.

Alexia Lopez would joined in on the home run derby contest with a solo-blast of her own in the third frame. It was Lopez's fourth round-tripper of the year.

Madison Clavert pitched all five-innings of the shortened game to improve to 6-7 on the year.

The two teams will finish the four-game series with a double-header Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
