The Henderson State softball team split a Great American Conference double header with Southern Nazarene in two defensive contests on Friday, winning game one 2-0 before falling 3-0 in game two.
In the first contest, HSU would tack on a single run in the bottom of the first inning when
Keirsten Seahorn singled to left-center field, plating
Courtney Warren for the game's first score.
Two-and-a-half scoreless innings proceeded before HSU scored its next and final run of the game, when
Olivia Trapp smacked a double to left field that scored
Alexis Morton.
Michelle Sorensen went the distance, pitching a complete game for the Reddies and giving up just two hits while striking out a whopping nine batters to improve to 16-10 on the season.
Keirsten Seahorn finished the game with two hits to lead the Reddies, who finished with five team hits.
SNU's Kayla Wyatt suffered the loss in the circle to fall to 16-11.
HSU could not find a way to get on the board in the second game, as neither team scored until the top of the 5
th inning when Kyndall Freer connected on a single to center field, scoring Hope Martin.
SNU would score two more runs in the final inning on a sacrifice fly out by Hannah LeBeau and on a passed ball, ending the game with three hits.
The Reddies would finish the contest with three hits as well, leaving eight runners stranded on base.
Madison Calvert would take the loss from the circle to fall to 10-11 on the year and struck out four batters, while SNU's Katelyn Brown was awarded the victory to improve to 8-12.
The Reddies are lined up for another double-header on Saturday vs. SNU tomorrow in the team's last home game of the season.
