The Henderson State volleyball team heads to its third weekend tournament of the season Friday, when the Reddies travel to Warrensburg, Missouri for the Peggy Martin Crossover Challenge, hosted by the University of Central Missouri.
Â
The Reddies are 5-5 overall and 4-4 in tournament play after going 2-2 in the Tampa Classic and 2-2 in the Bettye Wallace Invitational last weekend.
Â
Henderson is led by sophomore opposite hitter
Sharon Tukuaoga and freshman outside hitter
Courtney Bolf, who rank second and third in the Great American Conference in both kills per set and points per set.
Â
Freshman setter
Sariah Boney, who has 393 assists on the year, is also key to the Reddies' attack, as is junior libero
Sydney Skelton, whose 4.72 digs per set is good for fifth in the GAC.
Â
The first opponent of the weekend for the Reddies is the host school, Central Missouri, of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), who they play Friday at 1 p.m. The Jennies are 7-2 on the season and 2-2 against ranked teams so far in 2016.Â
Â
Henderson then plays a second game on Friday at 5 p.m. against Newman University of the Heartland Conference. The Jets are 7-3 in 2016 and have won three games this year against GAC opponents, two against Northwestern Oklahoma State and one against Harding.
Â
The Reddies' final opponent of the weekend is Northwest Missouri State of the MIAA, who they play Saturday at 3 p.m. The Bearcats are 8-0 this season and have also had their way thus far with GAC teams, claiming wins over East Central and Oklahoma Baptist.
Â
