HSU Volleyball Return Home To Face UAM in GAC Tilt

The Henderson State volleyball team, coming off of a tough weekend at the Crossover Challenge at Central Missouri, plays its second Great American Conference match at home tomorrow against the University of Arkansas-Monticello at 6 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center.

Series:
 
UAM leads the all-time series 11-10 and has won the last nine meetings between the two schools, including 3-0 and 3-1 wins last season. The Reddies have not defeated the Blossoms since October of 2010.
 
Henderson State Notes:
 
The Reddies look forward to returning to GAC play after a 0-3 weekend against some of the best Division II teams in the country at the Crossover Challenge hosted by Central Missouri. Despite the losses, sophomore Sharon Tukuaoga, who leads the GAC in kills (175) and Henderson in attack percentage (.277) was named to the All-Tournament Team; her third All-Tournament Team recognition in as many events this season.
 
In addition to Tukuaoga's efforts, several freshmen have played key roles for the Reddies in 2016. Setter Sariah Boney has been on a torrid pace so far this season, and leads the GAC in total assists with 416 to her credit, while outside hitter Courtney Bolf ranks second in the conference in total kills behind Tukuaoga with 168 and also has 146 digs on the year.
 
Defensively, junior libero Sydney Skelton has been the anchor for the Reddies, registering a GAC-leading 226 digs thus far in 2016.
 
As a team, Henderson leads the GAC in total kills with 574 and total assists with 549.
 
UAM Notes:
 
The Blossoms come into Tuesday's game at 2-9 on the year and 0-1 in GAC play, having lost five of their last six contests.
 
They are led by senior outside hitter Caroline Gasparini, who leads the team in kills with 128, as well as senior middle hitter Kya Standford who has 42 blocks on the season and averages 1.05 blocks per set.
 
As a team, UAM ranks fourth in the GAC in hitting percentage at .192.
