Volleyball visits Arkansas Tech on Tuesday


The Henderson State volleyball team hits the road again on Tuesday for Great American Conference action against the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns at 6 p.m. in Russellville, Arkansas.

Henderson State- Kristee Porter (10-34, second season)
Arkansas Tech- Kristy Bayer (316-126, 13th season)
 
Series:
The Golden Suns lead the all-time series 26-18, and have won the last 18 meetings between the schools. Henderson's last victory over Tech came in 2007.
 
Henderson State (6-9) Notes:
 
The Reddies are 1-2 in GAC play this season and come into tomorrow's match off of a 3-2 loss to Southern Arkansas last Thursday night in Magnolia. They are 2-2 on the road this year.
 
Sophomore opposite hitter Sharon Tukuaoga and freshman outside hitter Courtney Bolf lead Henderson offensively with 205 and 200 kills on the year, respectively, making them the conference leaders in total kills. Bolf is also second on the team in digs with 174.
 
The team leader in digs, junior libero Sydney Skelton, has 261 on the year, second-most in the GAC, and averages 4.58 digs per set, fifth best in the conference. Defensively, Henderson will look to its middle blockers, sophomore Gabby Ginapp and freshman Adrianna Hartmann, who both have more than 40 blocks on the year.
 
Freshman setters Sariah Boney and Haley Higgins will both see the court for the Reddies on Tuesday night. Boney leads the team in assists with 473, good for fourth in the GAC, and Higgins has been playing strong as off late, totaling 105 in her last five matches.
 
Arkansas Tech (8-6) Notes:
 
The Golden Suns are 3-0 in GAC play this season and enter tomorrow's match on the heels of a 3-0 win over Harding and a 3-1 victory over Ouachita Baptist last week.
 
They are led by sophomore outside hitter Hunter Eshnaur, who has 181 kills on the year and averages 3.42 kills per set with an attack percentage of .203.
 
Defensively, junior libero Madison Nagel has 231 digs on the year and averages 4.36 digs per set, while junior middle blocker McCall Wilkins has 35 blocks in 2016 for the Golden Suns.
 
As a team, Arkansas Tech ranks first in the GAC in total kills with 700, as well as kills per set with 13.21. The Golden Suns are third in the conference in hitting percentage (.211) and assists per set (12.17).
