Henderson State will begin Great American Conference this week as the Reddies travel to Alva, Okla. to take on Northwestern Oklahoma on Thursday with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. at the Percefull Fieldhouse.

Henderson opened the season last weekend at the GAC/NSIC Challenge with the Reddies beating Minnesota-Moorhead 93-80, before losing to Minot State 78-50.        Â
Henderson shot 51 percent from the field knocking down 37-of-73 attempts in the win against MSUM. The Reddies hit 10 three-pointers the game and totaled 19 assists.

Brad Nairn led the Reddies last weekend totaling 32 points in the two games including 24 against Minnesota State Moorhead. Nairn also had 7 rebounds in the win against the Dragons.

Josh Jones enters GAC play averaging 15.0 points after two games. Jones scored 19 points against MSUM and was a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the 3-point arc.

Kaylon Tappin scored 23 points in the season opener and is averaging 12.5 points per game. The senior from Little Rock is averaging 14.1 points per game during his 50-game career at Henderson.          Â
Henderson averages 71.5 points per contest while shooting 46.7 percent from the field. Â
Northwestern Oklahoma enters GAC play with a 2-0 record after winning games against Northeastern Oklahoma and Central Oklahoma last weekend.

Cody Halvorson is the Rangers' top returning player. The senior from Temple, Texas averaged 11.2 points per game and was the squad's top 3-point shooter hitting 77-of-179 long range jumpers for 43 percent. In the two games last season against the Reddies, Halvorson totaled 25 points and was 5-for-19 in 3-point field goals.Â

Also returning is senior guard
Greg Minor Jr. who averaged 6.5 points per game last season. The product of Louisville, Ky. is averaging 11.5 points after the first two games and is a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line.

Newcomer
Treyvon Andres leads the Rangers in scoring averaging 12.5 points while pulling down 9.0 rebounds per contest. In the season opener against Northeastern State the junior from Denver, Colo. scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds.

The series between Henderson State and Northwestern Oklahoma is even at 5-5 after the Reddies won both meetings last season. Henderson has won the last three contests and are 2-3 in games played in Alva.
