Cold Shooting Dooms Henderson in 77-63 Loss to NWOSU

ALVA, Okla. — Henderson State had a tough shooting night from the floor on Thursday against Northwestern Oklahoma State, hitting on just 38 percent of its shots in a 77-63 loss to the Rangers.

The Reddies led 17-13 at the 11:01 mark of the first half but the Rangers used a 19-3 run over the next seven minutes to seize a 32-20 lead, which they extended to 37-24 at the break, to give themselves all the momentum in the game. NWOSU began the second half with that momentum at its back and never gave Henderson a chance to rally, as the Rangers went on a 14-7 run to begin the period, extending their advantage to 53-31 with 12:55 to play before running away from the Reddies in the final ten minutes for the win.

Josh Jones led Henderson with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor, while freshman Raekwon Rogers had a career-high 13 points in just his third college contest and hit on 9-of-10 shots at the free throw line. Outside of Jones' seven made-field goals, Henderson was just 12-for-39 from the floor on the night.

NWOSU shot 48.3 percent from the field in the game and was led by Cody Halvorson, who hurt Henderson with 22 points on five 3-pointers. The Henderson bench out-scored the Rangers 24-17 and the Reddies shot 34 free throws to NWOSU's 19 in the loss.

Henderson returns to action on Saturday at 3 p.m. when it takes on Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
