Reddies Look to Even GAC Record Against Oklahoma Baptist

Henderson State will attempt to even its Great American Conference record as the Reddies play host to Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday with tip-off set for 3 p.m. at the Duke Wells Center.
 
The Junior Auxiliary of Arkadelphia will be in attendance to take toy and cash donations for the annual Reddie Basketball Angel Tree Game. JA of Arkadelphia serves children from infants to age 18 and has many Christmas wishes to fulfill. Those planning on attending Saturday's game are encouraged to bring toys for FREE entry.
 
The Reddies, 3-3 on the year and 1-2 in the GAC, suffered an 84-52 loss on Thursday to a Southern Nazarene team that had five players score in double-figures.
 
The Reddies shot just 33 percent from the field against SNU and were outrebounded 46 to 23 with Henderson having only 5 offensive boards.       

Kaylon Tappin and Josh Jones accounted for a majority of the scoring against the Crimson Storm with Tappin having 20 points while Jones scored 14.
 
Jones continues to lead the Reddies in scoring averaging 16.8 points per contest. The junior from Memphis, Tenn. has scored in double-figures in all six games and is shooting 53 percent from the field including 54 percent from the 3-point arc.
 
Kaylon Tappin is averaging 15.5 points and has scored 20 or more points in three of six games this year. The senior from Little Rock combined for 28 points in the two games against Oklahoma Baptist last season.

Chris Parker also averages double-figures for the Reddies averaging 10.8 points per game. The product of Plano, Texas ranks third in scoring among freshman in the Great American Conference.           
           
The Bison are 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in the Great American Conference following an 82-64 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Thursday.

The Bison are averaging 72.9 points per contest but allow 81.9 per game which ranks them 11th in the GAC in scoring margin at -9.0.          

Britt Hammons scored 18 points in the loss to the Tigers knocking down four 3-point field goals in six attempts and made all four of his free throws. Chandler Rickey finished with 11 points and shared rebound honors with Harrison Stoddart and Travon Moore with each getting four.

Rickey leads OBU in scoring averaging 17.9 points per contest including 20.3 points against GAC opponents.  Rickey scored 32 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in the contests against Henderson a year ago. In the game played in Shawnee, the senior from Broken Bow, Okla. collected 19 points and 14 boards.
 
Britt Hammons checks in at 12.6 points per game and a team-best 7.1 rebounds per game. The junior from Oklahoma City, Okla. has scored in double-figures in five of seven games this season including a season-best 20 points against Southwest Baptist.          

Moore also averages double-figures scoring 11.6 points per contest. The senior from Oklahoma City scored a season-high 18 points against Central Oklahoma. Moore had 8 points against Ouachita on Thursday.
 
Vladimir Nemcok leads the GAC with 6.3 assists per game having totaled 43 dishes on the year. The senior from Ziarnad Hronom, Slovakia totaled 32 points in the two games last year against the Reddies including a 19 point performance in Shawnee.

Henderson and Oklahoma Baptist meet for the 11th time with the all-time series even at-5-5. The Reddies have won the last three meeting including four straight home victories. Henderson is 4-1 all-time in games played against the Bison in the Duke Wells Center.
 
Saturday's double-header will be carried on 106.9 FM KYXK Arkadelphia/Gurdon with Cyrus Wittig handling the play-by-play.
 
The Domino's pregame show will air 12:45 p.m. with the women's game set for 1 p.m.
