Henderson State returned to action following a two week break and cruised to a 102-64 win over Paul Quinn College, Saturday at the Duke Wells Center.
The Reddies, 6-4 on the season, started off slow falling behind 9-4 in the first four minutes of the contest.
Trailing 11-10, Henderson would outscore Paul Quinn 30-7 with the Reddie defense not allowing a field goal during a seven minute span to take a 41-17 lead with 3:33 left in the half.
Chris Parker sparked the Reddies during the run scoring 12 points while dishing out 6 assists, while
Brad Nairn scored 8 points with
Kaylon Tappin knocking down a pair of 3-point field goals.
The Reddies forced 15 turnovers in the half, scoring 24 points off of the Paul Quinn miscues to take a 48-28 lead into the locker room at the break.
Henderson continued its solid shooting performance in the second half while playing stellar defense outscoring the Tigers 54-36.
Tappin led Henderson in scoring finishing the game with 21 points including making five 3-point field goals. Parker recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists, while
DJ Franklin added 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Matt Panaggio put up a balanced performance with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
Nairn also scored in double-figures with 11 points and 7 rebounds, while
Eric Dailey scored 10 points and had 4 assists.
The Reddies finished the game shooting 53 percent from the field making 41-of-78, while the Tigers were limited to 38 percent shooting on 22-of-58 attempts. Â
Henderson will return to Great American Conference play on Thursday when the Reddies travel to Ada, Okla. to take on East Central with tip off set for 7:30 p.m.
